How to Make a GCash QR Code (With Amount, Printable) — And Why Phone-Number Generators Don’t Work

Get your GCash QR from the app, add a fixed amount or a price list of amounts, and print a Scan-to-Pay sign — free, in your browser. Plus what is actually inside a GCash / QR Ph code and why a QR made from a phone number alone won’t pay you.

"Pa-GCash na lang" has become the default way to get paid in the Philippines — at the sari-sari store, the carinderia, the tricycle, the online seller's Messenger thread. The QR in your GCash app does the job, but it has no amount on it, it is awkward to print, and there is a lot of confusing advice online about "generating" one. Here is how to get your QR, give it a fixed amount or a price list, print a proper Scan-to-Pay sign, and what is actually inside the code.

Step 1 — Get Your QR From the App

You already have a payment QR; GCash issued it with your account.

  • GCash: open the app → tap QR in the bottom bar → Generate QR (some versions say My QR / Receive via QR) → Download or Save to gallery.
  • Maya: Receive money → QR → Save.
  • A clear screenshot of the QR screen works too.

Step 2 — Add an Amount (Optional) and Make the Sign

  1. Open the free GCash QR Generator and upload the QR image. It is decoded in your browser — nothing is uploaded — and you should see "GCash QR detected" with the name on your account.
  2. Type an amount (e.g. 150) to get a QR that opens GCash with ₱150 already filled in, or leave it blank for an open-amount QR. For a menu or price list, switch to Several amounts and enter them separated by commas — each becomes its own QR on one page.
  3. Type the name you want on the sign and pick A4, A5 or Letter, then download the Scan-to-Pay sign (PDF) or the QR alone as PNG / SVG.
  4. Test it once with your own GCash app before posting it: it should show your name (and the amount) on the confirmation screen.

The GCash QR with amount and Maya QR generator pages open the same tool with those settings ready.

Why You Can't Generate a GCash QR From a Phone Number

This is the part most "GCash QR generator" sites get wrong. GCash and Maya QRs follow the EMVCo merchant-presented QR standard — the same format as QR Ph, the national standard from the BSP. Decoded, a GCash personal QR looks like a long string of tagged fields: a format indicator, a "merchant account" block that names the wallet (GCash's bank code) and carries an account token that only GCash issues, the currency (608 = PHP), your name and barangay as GCash stored them, and a checksum at the end. Your mobile number is not in there.

So a code built from just "09XX XXX XXXX" is not something the GCash app can route to your account. The only reliable method is to start from the QR the app already gave you and change the things that are allowed to change — the amount and the "fixed amount" flag — then recompute the checksum. That is exactly what the tool does, which is why the result scans like the original.

What "Fixed Amount" Means

A QR can be static (the payer types the amount) or dynamic (the amount is embedded). Dynamic codes are what shops use: the customer scans, sees ₱150 and your name, and confirms. For a price list you simply print several dynamic codes — one per price. Keep a static one too for tips or variable totals.

Printing Tips

  • Print the PDF at 100%. The QR in the sign is large and high-contrast; anything from a home printer to a photocopier works.
  • Laminate it or slip it into a plastic sleeve — a smudged or creased QR scans badly.
  • Put your name on the sign (the tool does this) so customers can match it to what the app shows before they pay.
  • One sign per account. If you also accept Maya, make a second sign from your Maya QR.

Is It Safe?

A payment QR only lets people send money to you; it cannot be used to take money out or see your balance, so printing and posting it is fine. The real risk is the opposite one: never use a QR someone else sends you as "your" sign, because payments go to whoever owns the account inside the code. Always generate from the QR in your app and test it once.

That is the whole process: QR from the app, upload to the GCash QR Generator, set the amount, print the sign. Free, no account, and your QR never leaves your phone or computer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my GCash QR code?

Open the GCash app → tap QR in the bottom bar → Generate QR (or My QR) → Download / Save to gallery. That image is your payment QR; you can also screenshot the screen.

Can I make a GCash QR code with a fixed amount?

Yes. Upload the QR saved from your app to the free GCash QR Generator on toolism.app, type the amount, and download the new QR or a printable Scan-to-Pay sign. The amount is pre-filled when a customer scans it.

Can I generate a GCash QR from my mobile number?

No. A GCash QR contains an account identifier that GCash issues; it is not your phone number. Codes built from the number alone do not route to your account. Always start from the QR in your app.

Is a GCash QR the same as QR Ph?

They share the EMVCo format. QR Ph is the national standard (BSP / InstaPay); GCash personal QRs use the P2P variant and merchant QRs use QR Ph P2M. All are scannable by GCash, Maya and bank apps.

Is it safe to print my GCash QR?

Yes — the QR only lets people pay you; it does not expose your balance or let anyone withdraw. Just make sure it is your own QR (the app shows your name on scan) and test the print once before posting it.
