How to generate a strong password
- 1Open the tool — a secure random password is generated instantly with the default settings (16 characters, all character types enabled).
- 2Drag the Password Length slider to anywhere between 8 and 128 characters. Longer is stronger; 16 or more is a good baseline.
- 3Toggle the character types you want: Uppercase (A-Z), Lowercase (a-z), Numbers (0-9), and Symbols. The password regenerates automatically as you change options.
- 4Check the strength meter under the password — aim for Strong or Very Strong before using it.

Frequently asked questions
Are the generated passwords stored or sent to a server?
No. Generation happens entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API — the password never leaves your device, is never transmitted over the network, and is never logged or stored by us. Once you navigate away, it exists only where you pasted it.
How random are these passwords really?
The tool uses crypto.getRandomValues, your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator — the same class of randomness used for encryption keys. It is not the predictable Math.random used by toy generators, so the output is suitable for real credentials.
How long should my password be?
For everyday accounts, 16 characters with all four character types enabled is comfortably in Very Strong territory. For high-value targets like a password manager master password or server credentials, go to 20 or more. The slider supports up to 128 characters for keys you will store rather than type.
What does the strength meter measure?
It estimates entropy — the number of possible combinations an attacker would have to try — from your chosen length and the size of the enabled character pool. Under 40 bits rates Weak, while 80 bits or more rates Very Strong, which is far beyond practical brute-force reach.
Which character types should I enable?
All four when the site allows it: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols give the largest pool per character. If a site rejects symbols, simply switch that toggle off and add a few extra characters of length to compensate — length matters more than any single character class.
