This free URL shortener turns any long link into a short, shareable one in a couple of seconds — no account, no sign-up, and no limit on how many links you can shorten. Paste a link (or grab it straight from your clipboard with the built-in paste button), click Shorten, and copy the compact result for chat, social media, SMS, documents, or QR codes.
Behind the scenes the tool submits your link to established free shortening services — CleanURI first, with is.gd as an automatic fallback — so your short URL is backed by infrastructure that has served billions of redirects. We do not run our own link database: the redirect mapping lives with those services, and this site keeps no record of the URLs you shorten. A session history panel lists every link you have created during your visit with one-click copy, and it exists only in your browser, disappearing when you leave the page.
How to shorten a URL
- 1Paste your long link into the Enter URL field, or click the clipboard icon inside the field to paste it directly from your clipboard.
- 2Make sure it is a complete, valid URL including the scheme — for example https://example.com/page — or the tool will ask you to correct it.
- 3Click Shorten (or just press Enter). The shortened link appears in a result card within a second or two.
- 4Click Copy to put the short URL on your clipboard, or click the link itself to test that it redirects correctly.

Frequently asked questions
How does this URL shortener work?
When you click Shorten, the tool sends your link to CleanURI, a free public shortening service, and automatically falls back to is.gd if CleanURI is unavailable. The service generates the short code and hosts the redirect, and the tool hands the finished short URL straight back to you.
Do the short links expire?
The underlying services are designed for permanent links — there is no built-in expiry date, and links do not stop working after a set time. Longevity ultimately depends on those third-party services staying online, so for business-critical links a paid shortener with an SLA may be more appropriate.
Can I choose a custom alias for my short link?
No — the short code is generated automatically by the shortening service, which keeps the process instant and account-free. If you need branded or custom slugs, you would need a dedicated service that offers custom domains.
Do you store the URLs I shorten?
We keep no database of your links. Your URL is passed through to the shortening service, which must store the mapping in order to redirect visitors. The Session History list lives only in your browser for the current visit and vanishes when you close or leave the page.
What kind of URLs can I shorten?
Any valid, complete web address — the tool validates your input and asks for a correction if the URL is malformed or missing its scheme (the https:// part). Extremely long links with query strings and tracking parameters are exactly what it is built for.
